Mensa may seem rather exclusive, but there is another high IQ society that is even more selective – Intertel. While Mensa accepts individuals whose IQ is in the 98th percentile, StarNews Online reported that Intertel is only open to those who place in the 99th percentile.

According to Intertel’s website, the society was founded in the U.K. in 1966. Since its early days across the pond, Intertel has grown to include around 1,200 members in more than 30 countries, including the U.S.

Both Intertel and Mensa have chapters in North Carolina. Recently, members from each society came together to discuss the possibility of future activities they can all participate in, the news source stated. So far, individuals from both groups plan to get together over a meal to converse with one another. After all, both societies share a dedication to the exchange of all ideas and points of view.

Sometimes, people are unaware of their full cognitive potential, which prevents them from joining Mensa or Intertel. However, once they take an IQ test, they will gain a better understanding of where they stand.
